THE AMBLEKODI PROJECT
Amblekodi is a word made up by Ines when she was a little girl, used to express joy,
satisfaction and amazement at her every discovery.
With this very spirit, the Amblekodi project intends to re-discover, in a
productive way, an ancient plant, versatile and environmentally friendly and
useful such as the “Cannabis Sativa”. This particular kind of cannabis, commonly
known as “Textile Hemp”, is an effective photosynthetic converter of carbon
dioxide into oxygen and, during its growth cycle, it does not require the use of
fertilizers, pesticides or chemical treatments. Its roots improve the quality of
the soil, enriching it with nitrogen.
Hemp fiber is fresh and cool in Summer and warm and cozy in Winter, it is
non-allergenic, anti-bacterial, antistatic, it does not irritate the skin, it is
anti-static and it protects from UV rays.
Amblekodi creates linens and accessories for the whole house in pure hemp,
favoring the use of Italian grown hemp and organic products. Amblekodi uses only
prime quality materials in the total respect of the environment and in so doing
creates a sustainable micro-economy.
The design and set up of the premises by the architects of “Studio UXA - Ufficio
per l’Architettura” is meant to offer a didactic tour for the understanding
of hemp. Through illustrative panels, old looms and modern day machines,
visitors are taken on a historical tour staring from the early 19th century to
our modern times.
